Tell us about your business & how it came to be.
I help people to improve their health and fitness, however my goal is to make people laugh while helping them to achieve their goals. I want people to feel more confident and motivated to live healthier, more active lives.

This all started as a result of my poor health status and lack of physical activity as a college graduate. Growing up relatively poor with limited/no health insurance and severe asthma, physical activity was not encouraged nor was it in my scope of daily life activities. I lived off of Vienna sausages, Molly McButter cheese powder sprinkled on microwave popcorn, and Ensures. Always wanting to run in a race, and after securing my first “big girl” job as a teacher with Charleston County School District, I pranced my newly acquired health insurance card over to our local asthma specialist’s office and asked them to give me an assessment of my abilities. After oodles of lung function and other related health assessments, I was told I would never be able to run a mile without stopping. That statement changed the scope of my life’s work. I shifted gears and acquired health and fitness certifications and a masters in Health, Exercise, and Sports Science from the Citadel. I’ve now run countless miles without stopping. I run 5ks, 10ks, Half Marathons, and I’m currently training for my first Marathon.

What does a typical day in your life look like?
Wake up. Find that coffee. Head to the Country Club of Charleston and personal train clients. Check in with my virtual personal training clients. Head to the Zoo to work myself out. Teach a Burpees & Brews class, a HIIT bootcamp at a brewery here in Charleston. Run.  Head home and have dinner with my husband. Shower. Snuggle our frenchies while watching New Girl, The Office, Parks & Rec, Friends. Conk out and do it all again.

Fill in the blank. I'm on a mission to…
Help people to enjoy crushing their health and fitness goals.

Who inspires you to be the best entrepreneur you can be?
My husband and my sister. They believe in so much that I work hard to make them proud and correct.

How did you handle fear & doubt when it comes up?
Fear and doubt only arise for me with uncertainty, thus I try to gain clarity. I’ll try to do some research or consult with trusted people such as my husband or the Hatch Tribe family.

What would you say are the top 3 skills or traits needed to be a successful business owner?
Organization, dedication, and bravery.

How do you define success?
Setting a goal and reaching it.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Be brave.
