Are You Enjoying Life While Building Your Business?

This past week I learned about the passing of a former coaching client.

She was 45.

I began working with her in 2019. She had been an entrepreneur for many years at that point, teaching yoga and practicing Ayurveda with countless clients that sang her praises.

But she was feeling a shift – a desire to do something different.

I remember she came to one of our sessions and told me she’d made a big decision. She was going to start a wallpaper hanging business. She had already signed up for an intensive training with a master in wallcoverings. Her excitement was palpable. She was so sparked by the idea of this new business and was ready to dig in!

Yoga —> Ayurveda —> Wallpaper

It might not look like a logical progression of one’s career, but it didn’t matter.

This was her path. She was listening to her own inner guide and wisdom, and following the seeds that had been planted in her heart.

I share this story for 3 reasons…

You Can Change Your Mind Or Path At Any Time

Just because you’re doing something now doesn’t mean you need to keep doing it forever! One of the most incredible gifts of being an entrepreneur is that you can change course. You can pivot. You can burn your business to the ground (metaphorically speaking!) and build something new from the ashes.

And it’s AOK if you do. I’ve done it many times over, and even as I write this, I’m personally going through an epic evolution. If you’re feeling the call to make some changes, trust it. That seed has been planted in your heart for a reason.

Tomorrow Is Not Promised

I see so many entrepreneurs who are hustling now with the hope of enjoying life later. And this story is a reminder that tomorrow may never come.

You may (or may not) live to the ripe old age of 80. You may (or may not) even live for 5 more years. And I know that can feel like a scary thought. But it’s a wonderful reminder to enjoy your life now!

Success isn’t about a destination. And success in business, at the expense of a really joy-filled life, isn’t really success, is it? Find joy in the journey while you’re building your business!

To Honor The Life Of Caryn

I’ve read her obituary many times now, and it brings such a smile to my face. Caryn was an extraordinary human, a joy to know, and a complete honor to work with.

May the life of Caryn inspire us all to find JOY in the journey of life AND business!
