How did your awesome business come to be?

Slowly developed into what it is now. I had jobs that were not satisfying me, finally found a job that I loved but it was working for a community center so the pay wasn't there. I picked up some freelance work on the side to help pay the bills, found a business partner, developed a company over 2 years. When that came crashing down I picked myself back up and started focusing on just freelancing. I have been on that track for almost a full year now.

Who inspired you to pursue entrepreneurship?

My father has always worked for himself. I have learned many lessons from his failures and successes, and I suppose the inspiration was a bit of a competitive edge thinking 'I can do it better than he did'. My dad is happy for the competition, and continues to share help and advice whenever I need it.

Have you ever had a mentor?

Same answer—my father!

How do you define success for yourself?

Success to me is being able to work less than 40 hours a week and make enough to pay the bills and enjoy my free time.

We all love failure & flop stories! Tell us about something you tried in business that didn't work, and how you moved beyond it.

Having a business partner. We had different ideas about how to manage things like clients and money and services to offer. At first we thought the differences complimented eachother and helped the company be stronger. After a while it caused arguments and disagreements that could not be settled, and the business was suffering and so was I. When I finally cut ties and focused on freelancing was when I finally saw success.

What is a recent success that you're super proud of accomplishing?

I had someone hire me that I have never met. They found my facebook page and hired me for a logo design. They live in Texas.

What is your superpower?

CSS coding skills. I can make magic happen on a website!

What is the least sexy part of your job?

Web development, sometimes. When I am in the guts of building a new site or making some feature work properly, it is frustrating and upsetting. I swear like a sailor and want to break my computer! But, when I am finished and what ive been programming is finally working and looking nice, it is the most rewarding feeling in the end!

What do you hope to learn from this community of your peers (ie. Hatch Tribe Members Circle)?

How other manage problems I have. Things like issues with clients that I never know how to properly handle.
