3 Reasons Men Are Better At Sales

I have a feeling the title of this blog has already ticked a few people off. 

Gender norms are not always productive or helpful. But in this case, what I’ll share with you is highly relevant and accurate.

At 44, I’ve had the joy of working with LOTS of men and women. I love to study humans and their behavior, especially in the context of building a business.

There are so many common experiences of ALL PEOPLE who choose to launch & grow a business.

AND there are also SUPER common experiences that do fall along the lines of gender. So today we’re going to look at 3 reasons men commonly run circles around women in SALES!

There’s gold to be mined in these lessons for all of us, so take it with a grain of salt and let’s dig in!


3 Reasons Men Are Better At Sales Than Women


Men will reach out to anyone.

Men in sales

When you want to grow your business, you need to SELL MORE! And selling more requires you to talk to people you don’t currently work with!

Where do all those new customers & clients come from?

In many cases they come from direct outreach! And this is where our male counterparts SLAY!

Men will…

✅ Cold email you!

✅ Cold call you!

✅ Drop in your DMs!

✅ LinkedIn connect with you!

✅ Ask another person to connect them!

✅ Ask for referrals!

They do NOT overthink it. They just do it because they know if they don’t…they will NOT land new clients. It’s that simple.


Men do not think they’re bothering you.

What are men thinking about when they send all those COLD emails?

Absolutely nothing 😉 !!!

Men are not concerned about the impact that email, or phone call, or DM is going to have on YOUR day.

Why? Because it’s really none of their business! And they’re not wasting their time or energy on trying to read the f*cking tea leaves.

Remember the book “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz. One of these 4 agreements is “Don’t Make Assumptions”!

Assumptions in sales will always get us into trouble!

🙄 “I don’t want to bother them!”

🙄 “I don’t want to come off salesy”

🙄 “I don’t want them to think I’m desperate.”

🙄 “They’re probably already working with someone else!”

🙄 “They probably don’t even read their email!”

ALLLLLL of these EXCUSES are keeping you playing SMALL while the boys are playing BIG and stealing all your clients. Seriously.


Men are not concerned with the response (or lack thereof) to their outreach.

If you’re expecting a 100% success rate in sales, you are dead on arrival. 💀💀💀

No one is perfect. Not you. Nor any of these men out there slaying in sales.

And that’s precisely how men end up running laps around women in sales.

Men are completely unattached from individual outcomes. They aren’t concerned when someone doesn’t reply, or even if they get a “No thanks! Not interested.”

They understand that sales is a numbers game and eventually you will get a YES! But you have to keep going.

Men are able to zoom the lens out and see the bigger picture and that’s what keeps them going, even in the face of a bunch of crickets and NO’s!
