Are there any guarantees in life? Well, here’s one…You will miss 100% of the chances you don’t take.

I love a good documentary, especially the kind when a person takes on an epic challenge just to prove what they're capable of. This weekend I watched two of those documentaries, The Push and Iron Cowboy.

In a nutshell, my childhood was traumatic. This is the story of how I rose from the ashes. I didn’t let my childhood hold me back. I didn’t let trauma in my personal life hold me back. I didn’t let business catastrophes hold me back. I chose to rise.

“It’s time to focus on quality of life.” That is something that no person wants to hear, especially when it’s about your mum. Throughout 2018, I not only witnessed my dear mum continue her battle with stage four ovarian cancer but also celebrated 4 years of my company, was nominated for Regional Business Woman of the year, and oversaw my son’s most challenging school transition. It was a year of the highest highs and lowest lows. What are the learnings or take-aways from this year that I can share with you?

If there’s one thing we love here at Hatch Tribe it’s celebrating wins...and coffee. We LOVE to celebrate wins! Often times they’re hard-fought, and sometimes we wish we’d learned our lessons more gracefully. When someone asks me to describe my job I usually pass them a drink, ask them how long they have, and say take a seat. Because I am freaking blessed to do EXACTLY what I love and what lights me up and Lord knows I love to talk!

It allows us to throw up our hands, remain exactly where we are and say, “Well! Since I don’t know what to do, I’m going to sit here and do nothing.” And not fail. It’s the fear of failing, or going in the wrong direction, or, or, or….

Haven’t we all been told that if you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life? As a young creative, I have found that doing what you love is much more complex and challenging than it seems, it is in fact, work.
