Meet the Tribe - Kaitlyn Carroll

We love to bring you stories of the amazing women we’ve come to know through the Hatch Tribe Members Circle. Today we're excited to introduce you to Kaitlyn Carroll of Corrective Chiropractic Charleston.

As a child, what did you think you’d do when you grew up?
I always knew I was going to grow up to be a doctor just like my grandpa! It took time to figure out what type of doctor I wanted to be, and after seeing a chiropractor myself for years, I fell in love with the life changing benefits of chiropractic and preventative health care!

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Realistically, check my phone ha! Step 2: Cuddle Dr. B, make coffee (a necessity), and then go water the vegetable garden.

Favorite book? Or Favorite podcast?
Favorite book is a tough question because I LOVE to read! Everything from Harry Potter to the latest research articles, our house is basically a library haha. And I actually am not into podcasts (I might be the only one) but I love the content of Birthfit for women of all ages!!

One Word. What is your life like as an entrepreneur? Rewarding

Tell us about your business & how it came to be.
We are a husband and wife chiropractic team dedicated to taking our community's health to the next level through the most up to date chiropractic techniques and technology. I specialize in prenatal, postpartum and pediatric care, while my husband specializes in athletes. With those two specialities, we can basically see the whole family, and help with everything from tech neck (which is unfortunately becoming more and more common), to headaches, low back pain, allergies, and more!

We were working in Atlanta, and loved what we did, but knew that it wasn’t our forever spot to raise a family! Brandon and I fell in love with Charleston the very first time we visited! We love the friendly, connected community, and wanted to bring what we were doing in Atlanta to Charleston to help elevate our community’s health!

What does a typical day in your life look like?
Because we are primary care doctors and see so many different conditions, every day can look a little bit different! We spend most of our time in the office treating patients, and also love getting connected in our community, participating in events, putting on health workshops, etc! In my outside of the office time, I love yoga, paddle boarding, going to the beach, and working on my organic vegetable garden!

Fill in the blank. I'm on a mission to…Educate women on TRUE HEALTH! Women’s health issues are often overlooked, and there is so much misinformation these days on Google, Instagram, your friend down the street etc. It breaks my heart to watch women TRY to be healthy, think they are living a healthy lifestyle, when really they are not! No one is their best self, best mom, best wife, best business partner when their health is holding them back. That’s where we come in, to help get you to be actually healthy without using drugs or surgery!!

Who inspires you to be the best entrepreneur you can be?
My patients. Every person we have helped live a better quality of life for themselves (and by extension for their families) motivates me to keep working to spread the word to MORE women in our community. It’s so amazing to see the transformation in people’s lives when their body doesn't hold them back, and there are so many women (and men) that can use our help and just don’t know it!

How did you handle fear & doubt when it comes up?
My husband is my rock. He is always there to help me on the tough days.

What would you say are the top 3 skills or traits needed to be a successful business owner?
Decisiveness, Great Communication, Quality Service/Product

How do you define success?
That’s a tough question. Ideally I want every person in Charleston to have a chiropractor, the same way they have a dentist! They can give you fake teeth, but there is no fake spine, so keeping the one you have healthy is vital. If I can educate our community on preventative care and make Charleston the healthiest city it can be, I would consider myself a success!

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Not to take other peoples’ decisions on their health personally. There are people who walk into my office in desperate need of our care, but they don’t always become patients. These are the people who keep me up at night!! This is something I am still working on, but am getting better at focusing on the people who do want my help with their health!
